3-Day Precision Power Collar Techniques for Police Dogs

Most of us would agree that highly driven dogs require special attention, especially when it comes to criminal apprehension. The level of control we have generally depends on the environment we're in at the time. Imagine doing obedience and having your dog’s complete attention while there is a bite suit near, or a decoy walking around in it. It’s possible! We teach you how to use the power collar in conjunction with techniques that reward your dog for good behavior. There's no smoke and mirrors or confusing concepts in our training regimen. These simple training techniques of focus and reward have produced results time and time again in some of the hardest police dogs on the planet.

Day One - We fill the day with simple focus and reward techniques that are the foundation of obedience and thus the beginnings of ultimate control. The relationship we build between the collar, the focus and the reward is shaped through repetitive exercises and layering environmental stressors gradually.

  • Introduction of the collar to the K-9
  • Focus training using the collar to bridge the communications gap
  • Reward and stimulus timing for fastest learning
  • Stress reduction through reward and stimulus
  • eliminating human emotion and brute force from the equation, resulting in a more responsive police dog
  • Direct apprehensions, distance outs and redirected apprehensions using the collar to reinforce the commands

Day Two - Each dog team works at its own pace and individual attention is what produces real results. As the dog's understanding of the training regimen develops, we increase distracters the difficulty at which he must maintain his focus on the handler's commands. Multiple decoys, call off commands and redirected pursuits are all part of the tolerances that the dog must work through.

  • Multiple Decoys with apprehension and obedience combined
  • Learn to use the "Buddy System" of power collar training
  • Tactical obedience using movement and gunfire as environmental distracters
  • Obedience around body suits, sleeves and agitating decoys
  • Reinforce all the previous day's training exercises through repetitive learning

We continue to perfect the handler's hands-on skills at using the power collar and the dog's abilities to perform in dynamic environments that includes gunfire and aggressive decoys while tactically maneuvering between points of cover and concealment.
